This is Part IV from my previous blogs on utilizing the Dynamics GP PSTL. The three previous blogs addressed the System, Financial, and Purchasing sections of the PSTL.
In this blog, I wanted to discuss the nine Sales tools listed under the Sales Tools grid: Customer Combiner, Customer Modifier, Customer Name Modifier, RM Master Trigger, RM Transaction Unapply, Salesperson Modifier, SOP-Customer Item Lookup, Territory Modifier, and Territory Combiner.
To access the PSTL tools, the tools must be installed for Dynamics GP and a shortcut created on the Navigation pane of the Dynamics GP desktop. The PSTL software is located on the Dynamics GP installation disk.
To create the shortcut to PSTL:
- Right click in the Dynamics GP Navigation Pane
- Select Add
- Add Window
- Type the Name of the Shortcut and window
- Expand the Technical Service Tools option
- Expand the Project option
- Select Professional Services Tools Library
Sales Tools: When running any PSTL tool, always remember to make a backup before performing the action.
Customer Combiner
This tool enables the user to combine customers together. This tool affects all open and historical data.
To combine Customers:
- Start the PSTL function in Dynamics GP
- Select the Customer Combiner option
- Click Next
- Enter Customer ID to combine and remove the Starting Customer Number
- Enter the New Customer number to combine into
- Click Convert
- Click OK
To update a range of Customer Names via a spreadsheet:
- Create a spreadsheet
- Enter existing Customer ID to combine and replace in the first column
- Enter the new Customer ID to combine into in the second column
- Save as a text file
- Start the PSTL function in Dynamics GP
- Select the Customer Name Modifier option
- Click Next
- Select the Import option
- Select the Validate button
- Select the spreadsheet text file
- Select Open
- If no errors, Select the Modify button
- Select the spreadsheet text file
Customer Modifier
This tool enables the user to change the Customer ID for an existing Customer.
To Modify the Customer ID:
- Start the PSTL function in Dynamics GP
- Select the Customer Modifier option
- Click Next
- Enter Customer ID to change and remove in the Starting Customer ID
- Enter the New Customer number in the New Customer ID field
- Click Convert
- Click OK
To update a range of Customer IDs via a spreadsheet:
- Create a spreadsheet
- Enter existing Customer ID in the first column
- Enter the new Customer ID in the second column
- Save as a text file
- Start the PSTL function in Dynamics GP
- Select the Customer Modifier option
- Click Next
- Select the Import option
- Select the Validate button
- Select the spreadsheet text file
- Select Open
- If no errors, Select the Modify button
- Select the spreadsheet text file
Customer Name Modifier
This tool enables the user to change the Customer Name for an existing Customer.
To Modify the Customer ID:
- Start the PSTL function in Dynamics GP
- Select the Customer Name Modifier option
- Click Next
- Enter Customer ID to change the name for
- Enter the New Customer name in the New Customer Name field
- Click Convert
- Click OK
To update a range of Customer Names via a spreadsheet:
- Create a spreadsheet
- Enter existing Customer ID in the first column
- Enter the new Customer Name in the second column
- Save as a text file
- Start the PSTL function in Dynamics GP
- Select the Customer Name Modifier option
- Click Next
- Select the Import option
- Select the Validate button
- Select the spreadsheet text file
- Select Open
- If no errors, Select the Modify button
- Select the spreadsheet text file
RM Master Trigger
This tool enables the user to replicate added Customer and address information to multiple databases. This feature is also available for Accounts and Customers.
To replicate Customer information:
- Start the PSTL function in Dynamics GP
- Select the RM Master Trigger option
- Click Next
- Select the Master Database to replicate From
- Select the Database to replicate To
- Select the table type to replicate
- Click OK
- Click OK
RM Transaction Unapply
This tool enables the user to unapply documents in the history table and force the transactions from the RM History table to the RM Open table.
- Start the PSTL function in Dynamics GP
- Select the RM Transaction Unapply option
- Click Next
- Select the Customer ID
- Select the Document dates
- Select to include Work, Open, and History
- Unapply the document by unselecting the Apply checkbox
- Click Unapply
Salesperson Modifier
This tool enables the user to change the Salesperson ID for an existing Customer.
To Modify the Customer ID:
- Start the PSTL function in Dynamics GP
- Select the Salesperson Modifier option
- Click Next
- Enter Salesperson ID to change and remove in the Starting Salesperson ID
- Enter the New Salesperson ID in the New SaelsPerson ID field
- Click Convert
- Click OK
To update a range of Salesperson IDs via a spreadsheet:
- Create a spreadsheet
- Enter existing Salesperson ID in the first column
- Enter the new Salesperson ID in the second column
- Save as a text file
- Start the PSTL function in Dynamics GP
- Select the Salesperson ID Modifier option
- Click Next
- Select the Import option
- Select the Validate button
- Select the spreadsheet text file
- Select Open
- If no errors, Select the Modify button
- Select the spreadsheet text file
SOP-Customer Item Lookup
This tool enables Dynamics GP to collect order history information such as the last invoice date and last price used for viewing on the SOP screens.
To utilize the SOP-Customer Item Lookup feature:
- Start the PSTL function in Dynamics GP
- Select the SOP-Customer Item Lookup Check checkbox
- Close the window
Territory Modifier
This tool enables the user to change the Territory ID for an existing Territory.
To Modify the Territory ID:
- Start the PSTL function in Dynamics GP
- Select the Territory Modifier option
- Click Next
- Enter Territory ID to change and remove in the Starting Territory ID
- Enter the New Territory number in the New Territory ID field
- Click Convert
- Click OK
To update a range of Territory IDs via a spreadsheet:
- Create a spreadsheet
- Enter existing Territory ID in the first column
- Enter the new Territory ID in the second column
- Save as a text file
- Start the PSTL function in Dynamics GP
- Select the Territory Modifier option
- Click Next
- Select the Import option
- Select the Validate button
- Select the spreadsheet text file
- Select Open
- If no errors, Select the Modify button
- Select the spreadsheet text file
Territory Combiner
This tool enables the user to combine Territories together. This tool affects all open and historical data.
To combine Territories:
- Start the PSTL function in Dynamics GP
- Select the Territory Combiner option
- Click Next
- Enter Territory ID to combine and remove the Starting Territory Number
- Enter the New Territory number to combine into
- Click Convert
- Click OK

- Enter existing Territory ID to combine and replace in the first column
- Enter the new Territory ID to combine into in the second column
- Save as a text file
- Start the PSTL function in Dynamics GP
- Select the Territory Name Modifier option

- Select the spreadsheet text file
