Top Five Take Away’s from Microsoft Convergence A Partners Perspective
Every Convergence brings two competing thoughts for a seasoned partner; the familiarity of an old friend (I have been attending for a long time) and the anticipation of the unknown (what new technologies are going to be presented). Here are my top five takeaways for 2013:
CRM: Big Brother Watching?
Why do some sales people view a CRM application as “Big Brother Watching?” CRM, or Customer Relationship Management, software has changed rapidly over the last 5 years. I remember when it was just a contact management system that sales people used to enter prospect or customer contact information. A contact repository if you will. A system used to capture basic company and contact information with an occasional note entered for a phone call, email, or site visit. Oh and let us not forget about the opportunity pipeline, “if” the sales person was even logging these into the system.

The idea for the event came from Doug Burgum (The Great Plains Software founder and CEO) as a way to get closer to customers and build a true community of developer, partner and customers.
Microsoft’s 2013 Release Calendar
Microsoft is known for making big announcements at Convergence every year and this year was no different! The most anticipated announcement was the release of Microsofts’ Product Roadmap. The product roadmap outlined Microsoft’s aggressive strategy to commit resources toward the development of that they will be embracing cloud computing, devices and servicesto support channel partners and their customer base.
