By now, people are well aware of the cloud. What you may not be aware of is the intelligent cloud. What is the intelligent cloud you ask? According to Microsoft, the intelligent cloud is “ubiquitous computing, enabled by the public cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) technology.” By incorporating the intelligent cloud, companies can become more agile and scalable with unlimited computing power available on-demand.
In addition to having more computing power on demand, businesses also gain a variety of capabilities by enabling the intelligent cloud. To name a few, companies can obtain better insight of its customer needs with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) based analytical data, access superior Power BI visualizations and reporting, securely store and manage data through Common Data Services, and have the ability to create powerful mobile applications through PowerApps and Flow.
All of these benefits are not only reserved for companies on the cloud but available for on-prem businesses as well. For businesses that are still on-premises, they can still take advantage of all the intelligent cloud capabilities with the help of the intelligent edge. Microsoft offers the capability to connect your on-premise solution to the intelligent cloud through Business Central. To find out which on-prem solution is compatible with the intelligent edge, please refer to this Microsoft release note.
With Intelligent Cloud Insights, you can get Power BI reports which provide Chart of Accounts analysis, Customer dashboards, mini-trial balance, General Ledger entries report and list reports for customers and vendors. With the current release, you can replicate the following data onto Business Central:
- GL Accounts and current balance
- Customers and Open Receivables Transactions
- Vendors and Open Payables Transactions
- Items and Quantity on Hand
However, this is a one-way connection when connecting your Microsoft Dynamics GP data to Business Central. There is no read/write capability or the ability to enter transactions in Business Central and have that replicated to Dynamics GP. Though it is view only, this still gives you the advantage of viewing Intelligent Cloud Insights anytime, anywhere and on any device.
